The Australian precast concrete industry is comprised of manufacturers of precast concrete products. Manufacturing is undertaken in specially-equipped factories, which are established in permanent locations. Finished products are transported to site, ready for installation.
Suppliers of precast concrete are widely distributed throughout Australia, meeting the needs of the building and construction industry with a breathtaking portfolio of products ranging from the sophistication of polished reconstructed granite architectural facades to the practical functionality of stormwater drainage pits.

Total precast structures are being used for many types of structures including apartments, parking structures, retail developments, offices and industrial buildings.
Architectural and structural precast concrete components can be combined to create ENTIRE energy efficient buildings. This design approach can take several forms, including precast columns and beams with panelised cladding or load-bearing precast walls, precast floors, precast service cores and precast stairs. The use of total precast in a structure offers fast contruction, structural stability and enhanced fire resistance.

Large civic structures are the visible face of precast concrete but less visible forms have been crucial in the development of Australia. Bridge beams, railway sleepers, culverts, pipes, tunnel liners, piles, utility poles and septic tanks are typical of the products which have been widely used throughout the country.
Other possible structures such as large sporting stadia, segmentally-lined tunnels include road and rail tunnels, sewers, water supply, high-voltage electricity supply cable tunnels and intake/outfall tunnels for desalination plants are common manufactured precast concrete products.
Marine structures vary in size from single piers or jetties to major shipping wharfs.

Precast concrete offers many different colours and textures, from a basic off-form grey through to a stained formliner finish.
The finish you are able to achieve may depend on the manufacturer you choose and to an extent, the type of panel. It is not uncommon to have precast elements with more than one finish.
