Beams

Super Tee-Beams
Super-Tees are precast, prestressed box girder sections with top flanges and come in 2 basic configurations, open-flange and closed-flange. They are used in conjunction with a deck slab which acts compositely with the girders. The wide flanges reduce or eliminate the formwork requirement for the insitu deck slab. Super-Tees are suitable for long span highway bridges, ranging from 15m to 37m.

T-Beams
Precast prestressed T-Beams provide economical sections for the construction of bridges (particularly rail bridges), spanning between 10m and 25m. A transverse tie design or concrete end and intermediate diaphragms are required in most designs in order to ensure that the members will not be spread apart by the application of the live load.

Double T-Beams
Double T-Beams are essentially the same as a 2 single T-Beams that share a common flange of the T-section along the entire length of the beam.

Bulb-Tees
Bulb-Tees are precast, prestressed T-Beams with a bulb-shaped bottom flange, suitable for long span structures ranging from 18m to 40m. They are usually used in conjunction with a deck slab which acts compositely with the girders. The wide top flanges can reduce or eliminate the amount of formwork required for the insitu deck slab. These flanges also provide significant resistance to lateral bending. The bulb-shaped bottom flange provides for a well-balanced design and contributes to torsional rigidity.

U-Beams
U-Beams have a 'U' shaped profile and are more commonly used for single-unit pedestrian bridges. The vertical walls of the 'U' act as the combined beam and railing, with the walkway slab connecting the beams. The vertical walls of the 'U' act as the combined beam (flexural member) and railing with the walkway slab connecting the beams. They may be constructed as single U-Beams for spans up to around 15m. Longer spans commonly use individual beams with transverse precast slabs or segmental U-Beams.

Rectangular Voided Beams
Precast voided beams provide economical sections for the construction of bridges (particularly rail bridge superstructures) up to about 22m. A transverse tie design is required in most bridges in order to ensure that the members will not be spread apart by the application of imposed actions. Rectangular Voided Beams are provided with either circular or rectangular voids to reduce self weight and increase structural efficiency.
