Precast Concrete: Energy-Cost-Effective Building Facades
Author: Dr Edward L Harkness |
Architects know that windows should be shaded in the Australian environment, but may have difficulty convincing their clients to do so. This booklet will assist by providing examples of the reduction in peak airconditioning loads, size of airconditioning plant and environmental temperatures achievable by shading windows.
Contents include:
Factors Affecting the Thermal Environment Within a Building, Factors Affecting the Size of Air Conditioning Plant and Recurrent Energy Loads, Examples of Preferred Cross Sections for Economical Use of Precast Concrete as Shading Elements, Summary, References, Appendix and Glossary |

| Recommended Specification for Manufacture, Curing and Testing of Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) Products |
This specification refers to the manufacture of Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) products by the spray process.
This process involves the simultaneous spraying of fibre and slurry onto a mould by manual or mechanical means. It is the commonly-used method of manufacture for relatively large GRC elements (eg cladding panels, noise barriers, permanent formwork) and other elements which are required to be thin in section and of high flexural strength. |
